Beginning of Secular Mindfulness

Duration and Structure

Secular mindfulness emerged in the 20th century, inspired by ancient meditation, psychology and philosophy practices, and is now increasingly popular all over the world. Because it can be applied to everyday life, mindfulness allows us to find a moment of pause in the complexity of our contemporary life .

 

Knowing how to stop with resources allows us to develop qualities of excellence that enrich our lives by cultivating happiness and resilience, thus cultivating a well-being that enhances health.

 

Included in this course:
Understanding the foundations of Mindfulness
Guided instruction in all practices
Resources for individual work between each week
A pre-; post-course questionnaire for personal assessment of the impact of the practices
Certificate of participation for those who attend all sessions
Note: This course does not confer competence to teach mindfulness or apply the program to others. However, it certifies participants as initiated in Mindfulness.

Course Structure:
The course consists of 6 sessions, each lasting 2 hours, over 6 weeks.

  • Week 1: Introduction to Mindfulness

  • Week 2: The body – postures in practice

  • Week 3: How to be with physical sensations of pleasure and discomfort

  • Week 4: Emotions – learning to choose

  • Week 5: Mental processes – calming the mind

  • Week 6: Self-care and dealing with self-criticism. Resources to keep the practice alive.
